• Steampunk Saturday is October 21

    Join us for Steampunk fun; noon to 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 21! Jerry and Cassie Beyer and other area Steampunks will be bringing some of their most unique creations to view. Learn more about steampunk while having a great time.

    Don your dapper duds or Victorian dress for the costume contests. If you don't have a steampunk costume you can make your own pins and fascinators. Try on our hats and coats for a souvenir photo.*

    Watch the tea dueling while enjoying tea and biscuits - or be daring and enter the competition!

    This year, create your own steampunk button--stamped, colored or choose a ready-made design.

    Free and open to the public.

  • Library Science Scholarship

    The Frank P. Young/Friends of Appleton Public Library Scholarship, awarded by the Appleton Public Library Board of Trustees, will be given to a graduate Library Science student in January 2018. One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded.

    Please note the closing date for the application is November 30, 2017 at 5pm, and a transcript or certification of satisfactory progress must be included with the application.

    Meet Mel Kolstad, APL’s September/October Artist-in-Residence! Mel creates with mix media, teaches around the state and curates exhibits at the Langdon Divers Gallery.

    Minecraft Guild | October 6, 13 & 20 - 4:30 pm
    Join our teen Minecraft guild and play on our whitelisted server at the library or from home. Personal laptops are welcome. Registration is required; click here to register or call 832-6173.

    Cocoa & Coloring Night | October 9 - 6:00 pm
    Come and color with us! We’ll provide the coloring sheets and supplies.

    Game Break | October 10 - 6:30 pm
    Our friends at Boardlandia will provide a special evening of tabletop gaming. Meet us in the gallery at Copper Rock Coffee on College Avenue.

  • Library Board Meeting - September 2017

    The Appleton Public Library Board of Trustees met Tuesday, September 19. As noted on the agenda, Director Rortvedt provided an update on the library building process.

    Director Rortvedt explained that library and city staff are now working on drafting a request for proposals (RFP). The current plan is to bring the RFP back to the library board at the next meeting (October 17).

    The meeting agenda, related documents, minutes and video are posted on the City of Appleton calendar.

  • 2017 Fox Cities Book Festival

    The 2017 Fox Cities Book Festival kicks off Monday, October 9 with events all over the community. This year's festival offers over 40 authors from all genres. We are excited to host 11 events this year. Books will be available for sale and signing at every event. See our full schedule below:
